Victoria Udondian in collaboration with Alelí Hernández, Mónica Iturribarría, Mariana González, Andrea Perales Covarrubias, Juan López Hernández and Daniela Vasquez Pacheco for a commissioned project in Oaxaca Mexico.
This collaborative textile installation produced with second-hand clothes, called locally ropa de paca, mixes various traditional Nigerian and Mexican hand-weaving techniques called collectively puntas de rebozo, typically used for ends of woven fabrics. It also incorporates laundry lines inspired by the vibrant papel picado installations around the city, composed chromatically covering the whole patio of the Museo Textil de Oaxaca (Textile Museum of Oaxaca). The installation mixes different artistic practices, weaving techniques, materials and textures which are juxtaposed with the architecture of the patio of the Textile Museum of Oaxaca.
